Doja Cat was accused of changing her skin colour to appear more marketable.
Doja Cat has denied lightening her skin after fans commented on her "whiter" complexion.
Basically, it all started when YouTube made Doja Cat the face of its #WCE – Woman Crush Everyday – playlist on Tuesday (Mar 10). The playlist, which consists of songs from a number of female artists, used a photo of the 'Say So' rapper wearing a pink lace bra for its cover art. However, YouTube was quickly flooded with comments that either the platform or Doja herself had lightened her skin to be more marketable.

Doja, who is biracial, addressed the remarks on Instagram Stories, posting a video scrolling through multiple comments that had mentioned her skin colour. "Oh dang why'd they make her white," one comment read. Another pleaded: "Doja, please don't let them whitewash you."
"If you're stupid as fuck you probably left a comment under this picture talking about this," she said. "Hey, how about I'm half white, not entirely black? My skin gets very light when I don't tan and I was staying indoors a lot before that shoot. New fucking subject, dumbasses."
