1) Downloading the app is free, simple and available in England and Wales from Thursday 24 September 2020. If you're using an iPhone, all you need to do is head to the Apple App Store, while Android users can download it from Google Play.

2) You can check in at public places like bars, pubs and restaurants using the built-in QR code scanner so you can be contacted if there is an outbreak linked to that venue. You've probably seen the official NHS QR code posters dotted around businesses in your area, well instead of punching in your details every time, when you're using the app all you have to do is scan the QR code.

3) You can check if you have any coronavirus symptoms using the app according to the latest government advice. If you need to book a test, the app will then help you get one online. If you receive a positive result, you can tell the app, and it will notify any app user who you've come into recent close contact with via an anonymous notification.

4) Don't worry, you're not being tracked. The app doesn't use GPS and can't track your location, monitor if you are self-isolating, or see personal information on your phone. It protects your privacy using Apple and Google's proven Bluetooth technology.

5) Any data shared with the app will only be stored on your phone, so if you decide to delete the app, all the data is deleted too.
