You may have noticed some Instagram users adding a fake Story circle to their profile picture, to get more views on their profile. We're not here for it...
There's a lot of Instagram users who are editing their profile pictures to include a fake coloured circle, making their followers believe they have a Story.
But in reality, they don't. This is a dodgy hack to get more views on their profile, and some hopeful likes.

By adding the circle, users will click on the profile picture, expecting to see a Story, however, will then be taken to their profile, which most believe is an attempt to get more follows and likes.
Some have spotted verified users using this tactic - like Love Island's Charlie Brake.
Could it be one of the most annoying hacks going? Yes. Yes it could be. And we're not the only ones who think that...
Those fake Instagram pages scare me. Their profile pic always has that ring around it like they made an IG story but you can't click on it.

Ppl are now manually adding their own fake âstoryâ ring around their profile photo to get follwers to check their âstoryâ, but instead it takes you back to their profile, because there isnât a story. Itâs honestly genius.. but pls donât be that guy đ
Why is it a thing to put a fake story ring around your Instagram profile pic???? I fall for it every time
