Discover all of Kylie Jenner's tattoos and their meanings right here.
Kylie Jenner might not be the first celebrity you'd instantly think has tattoos but she actually has nine known tats now. Ever since being bitten by the tattoo bug following her first inking in 2015, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has grown her collection extensively.

However, Kylie’s delicate markings are so small that you have probably missed them. Well, here’s the lowdown on all of Kylie’s ink.
Kylie received her first tattoo in December 2015 from the famed artist Bang Bang. The ink reads "\'sa-na-tē\", which is "sanity" written phonetically, on her right hip in red ink. The tattoo is supposed to be a reminder to keep her sanity whilst being in the public eye.
"Growing up in the light with a million eyes on you just isn't normal," she wrote on Instagram in June 2019. "I’ve lost friends along the way and I've lost myself too sometimes. My first tattoo was 'sanity' to remind myself everyday to keep it."
In July 2016, Kylie added some new ink to an already existing tattoo, documenting the process on Snapchat. The ink was the work of celebrity tattoo artist Rafael Valdez and it has been placed right in front of her "sanity” tattoo. Now the tattoo reads "before sanity".
Kylie revealed a teeny red heart tattoo on her right arm in August 2015 after reportedly getting the ink to celebrate hitting 18, which technically makes this her first tattoo (although she refers to her "sanity" inking as her first). Tattooist Bang Bang said Kylie had a "unique" theme for her tattoos in an interview with GQ.
"I love that Kylie has a direction and she knows what she wants," he said. "I like that her style is little red tattoos – I don't think I've ever met a person that has a bunch of little red tattoos, so I like that it's unique."
In 2016, Kylie decided to pay tribute to her grandmother Mary Jo Shannon with her next tattoo. Kylie inked her name "Mary Jo" in thin, red script on her left arm. The tattoo is actually inked in her late grandfather's handwriting.
In the same year, Kylie revealed a squiggly red "m" on her pinky finger of her right hand. The tattoo actually matches that of her then-best friend Jordyn Woods and was inked by renowned artist Jon Boy. Neither Kylie or Jordyn confirmed what the "m" tattoos mean, but the former BFFs are no longer, after Jordyn kissed Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend Tristan Thompson earlier this year.
Kylie had the initial of her then-boyfriend Tyga’s name inked on her in November 2016, TMZ reports. The couple confirmed their relationship in 2015 and split two years later. The teeny tribute tattoo was Kylie's nickname for Tyga and was inked on her left ankle by Valdez in black ink. You can see the tattoo here.
As we all know, Kylie and Tyga's relationship didn't last, with the couple splitting in March 2017. Months later, fans noticed that her "t" tattoo had changed into "la". Apparently, it's a tribute to her hometown – Los Angeles.
By June 2017, Kylie hadn’t learnt about the disadvantages of getting matching tattoos with your partner. This time it was with Travis Scott, who she started a relationship with in April 2017 after confirming their relationship at Coachella. Kylie has a tiny black butterfly on her right ankle and Travis has the same. The tattoos are thought to be a reference to Travis' song 'Butterfly Effect' which is rumoured to be about Kylie.
Kylie added another matching tattoo to her collection in May 2019 at Travis Scott's birthday party. This time, Kylie had the name of her daughter Stormi inked by Jon Boy in black, capital letters. The tattoo is on the back of her right arm, just above her elbow. It matches that of her friend Anastasia Karanikolaou, who has the same tattoo on her left arm.
