Khloe Kardashian's Diana Ross wig is being called out for "cultural appropriation"
28 March 2019, 12:06
And the internet is divided.
Khloe Kardashian recently let her hair down to celebrate legendary singer Diana Ross' 75th birthday. The star-studded event was, of course, a disco-themed affair and Khloe certainly went for it.
Everyone is roasting Kim Kardashian for wearing a "backwards" dress
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star channelled Ms Ross in a plunging gold gown that was dripping in sequins. Khloe also swapped her straight bob for a blonde curly wig which, um, got a lot of backlash.
People accused Khloe of "cultural appropriation" because of the hair texture.
Khloe K is really posted up wearing a kinky afro wig for shits and giggles. The way the Kardashians fetishize black features is super creepy sometimes. Im surprised no one snatched it off at Diana’s party👀 pic.twitter.com/gBaKtVRDLJ

Really not here for that @khloekardashian cultural appropriating hair in her last snap...

Khloe Kardashian’s hair was hella disrespectful last night. People like her don’t know how to celebrate a black person without appropriation. Clout is one hellauva drug bc if I was auntie Diana I woulda kicked her out of my event for that disrespect.

What the hell? It seems more like she's disrespecting Ms. Ross than honoring her.

But some did defend Khloe's wig choice, arguing that curly hair is not specific to any particular race.
I don't see what's wrong with this it's not like she was wearing blackface now white girls aren't allowed to have curly hair? My hair looks like this when I wake up in the morning LMAO 😂😅 https://t.co/wqYepzTgw5

As soon as I saw Khloe on Snapchat with her Diana Ross inspired hair I just KNEW the Internet was about to flip. I wish y’all would leave shit like that alone! We can all dress up, wear whatever, be inspired, pay homage- but a white woman or kardashian does it & the world ENDS.

With the prevalence of weave and wigs these days, so many women..and some men, wear various textures and colors that don't match their natural hair. For the sake of beauty and style, let ppl wear what they want to in their hair for whatever look they want to have.
