The dress is actually a big political statement.

So you've probably heard about big dick energy but now it's time to get acquainted with big uterus energy. Okay, it doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Nonetheless, the uterus was the star of the show at Gucci's recent Cruise 2020 fashion show.

Gucci is being accused of cultural appropriation for selling a turban

The Italian fashion house debuted their latest collection in Rome and, yep, they have actually made a dress with a uterus sewn on the front. The head-turning gown was sent down the runway with a red and pink uterus embroidered onto the front of it.

Now you might be thinking such an intricate design was carefully planned, but the decision to embroider the diagram onto the dress was an impromptu decision in reaction to the wave of anti-abortion bills being passed in the US. Gucci's Creative Director Alessandro Michele was inspired by the '70s, when the movement for reproductive rights started.

"Today, for someone in my position, it’s important to say [political] things," Alessandro told i-D.

"Recently what I’ve been reading in newspapers made me reflect on the fact that women have to be respected. They should be able to choose what they want and terminating a pregnancy is not going to uproot the womb or the uterus."

The collection also included a blazer with the message "My Body My Choice" on the back of it and a nipple cover-necklace-bra-jewellery contraption. Probably not the outfit to wear to visit your grandparents...

Needless to say, everyone had an opinion about Gucci's bold take on merging fashion and politics.
