Cardi B attempts the WAP Dance Challenge on Instagram Live
Best to leave this one to professionals, kids.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion made history with their latest track 'WAP', which has debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The unapologetically filthy bop has sparked a petition against Kylie Jenner, angered conservatives with its overtly sexual lyrics and even earned a critique from Russell Brand. So, naturally, it's inspired a viral TikTok challenge – and it's landing people in hospital.
What is the 'WAP' dance or 'WAP' Challenge on TikTok?
On August 8, choreographer Brian Esperon first shared his routine to the infectious song on TikTok and the video has amassed millions of views. Huge TikTok stars like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae have even replicated the dance (albeit to cleaner parts of the song...). However, this might be one challenge that is strictly for the professionals.

The dance features a mix of high kicks, booty popping, twerking and finishes in a split, so you'd definitely need to limber up before even attempting the first move. Tons of people have even reported sustaining some major injuries from copying the dance, including one that even had to make a trip to the emergency room.
TikTok user @lib_bbbbbbb landed on her knee while filming herself copying the routine. She had to get a stretcher to the hospital where they popped her knee back into place and hooked her up to an IV. The video ended with a shot of her lying in a brace on her knee from her hospital bed. Ouch.
Another TikTok user, @tonkatrace, came off a little better in comparison. After sharing her attempt at the dance, she uploaded another video detailing her injuries. She said: "You’re not gonna be able to wear shorts or a skirt for at least a week because your legs are covered in bruises. And you’re also gonna pinch your neck. But you will feel super sexy."
Cardi B has also recreated the dance on Instagram Live, thankfully she has not reported injuries at this time.
So, there you have it. Proceed with caution before you twerk – you've been warned…
