Try Guys fans call out SNL over "tasteless" sketch about Ned's cheating scandal

Saturday Night Live has never missed an opportunity to roast and comment on viral internet happenings, trends and memes. So it was only a matter of time before they dished out their own take on the whole Try Guys' Ned Fulmer cheating scandal that's been all over the internet for the past two weeks.
In SNL's October 8th show, hosted by Brendan Gleeson, the Try Guys were the subject of one sketch that saw cast members Bowen Yang, Mikey Day and Andrew Dismukes dress up as Eugene Lee Yang, Zach Kornfeld and Keith Habersberger.
In the sketch, White House Correspondent 'Colin' (Gleeson) interrupts a CNN bulletin to talk about the Ned scandal, and to interview the Try Guys. But shortly after airing, the sketch was slammed online by fans of the Try Guys with multiple people calling out SNL for 'completely missing the mark' when it came to the actual punchline.

Try Guys - SNL
While many people thought it was fair that SNL did a Try Guys sketch, several weren't happy that they neglected to make Ned the punchline. Instead, the sketch focused on – and made fun of – Eugene, Zach and Keith's video statement that was released last week (Oct 4) in which they called out what Ned did.
One user wrote: "that try guys skit was so tasteless…saying they were overreacting for firing ned when it is so rare for men to face the consequences of their actions in the entertainment industry."
Another added: "I should not care this much but snl doing a try guys bit where they make fun of NOT Ned but the other three for holding him accountable for all his shit and being hurt by it is so nasty."
Another tweet called out the way in which they referenced the situation between the colleague and subordinate that Ned had a "consensual workplace relationship" with.
One user wrote: "One thing I find really yucky about the snl skit about the try guys on top of downplaying ned’s actions is how much they focused on the specific employee he had a relationship with and named her segment and everything. especially when the try guys asked that she be left alone. [sic]"
hm, so let me get this right: ned wasn’t made fun of in the skit, but the other try guys were for processing their emotions? for losing a friend of almost a decade? for potentially losing millions in profit? guess why. ned has a snl writer buddy. this man is a real piece of work.

Becky Habersberger, who is married to Keith, also weighed in on the sketch. In a tweet, she wrote: "Anyone remember the Trypod episode where he talks about his Yale friend who writes for SNL…asking for a friend."
Becky, as well as several other Twitter users, appear to be referring to Ned's friend Will Stephen, who Ned previously name-dropped in a TryPod episode. Will Stephen appears to have written on the Try Guys SNL sketch too.
