TikTok Nurse gets huge backlash for her incorrect sexual health advice

Nurse Holly has now apologised for the TikTok video and said she was just trying to "promote positivity and healthy lifestyles".
A nurse named Nurse Holly is going viral on TikTok for all the wrong reasons. In a now-deleted TikTok video, Nurse Holly claimed the best way to prevent contracting an STI is to abstain from sex until marriage and the internet is seriously pissed.

In the video, Nurse Holly – who has 1.7million followers on TikTok – is standing in her uniform as words fly around her. It reads: "Did you know the best way to prevent STDs is waiting for sex until marriage. Just the truth."
The video was shared on Twitter and it quickly sparked a discussion around sex shaming and problematic health professionals. Believe it or not, marriage doesn't actually protect you from STIs. It's still very, very possible to catch an STI even if you wait until you're married to have sex.
People were also concerned that instead of championing better sex education and more testing, she was just telling patients to abstain, which isn't always possible.

Nurse Holly (who is a practicing Christian according to her TikToks) has now deleted the video from TikTok and, according to BuzzFeed News, she has apologised for "for any offence that was taken".
"In the comments, I acknowledged that of course using protection will help prevent STDs if one is sexually active. I just wanted to present another option to my young audience," she explained.
"I understand that my voice will not be accepted by many as it’s an unpopular view. This video was simply created with the intention of helping little girls see that saving sex for one partner may have certain benefits."
