The internet has some thoughts on who should be cast in the new 'The Little Mermaid' remake…
Last week (July 3), Disney announced that they had cast Halle Bailey to play Ariel in the live action remake of The Little Mermaid. It came as a surprise for some because it was rumoured that Zendaya was going to star in the role, especially after the Euphoria actress dyed her hair red.
Disney cast Halle Bailey as Ariel in Little Mermaid and people are praising them
Although Halle is the perfect person for the role, the singer and actress' fit for the character was questioned because she's black, whilst the animated Ariel is a redhead… and has a fish tail.
Halle's casting sparked a wider conversation about who else should star in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Melissa McCarthy will reportedly play the sea witch Ursula, who tries to take Ariel's voice. Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina are also rumoured to be in talks to play Flounder, Ariel's fish best friend and Scuttle, a seagull who is also Ariel's mate.
However, the internet has its own ideas on who should be given the roles. Basically, people have been tweeting "hear me out" alongside a photo of who they think should be in cast in The Little Mermaid.

We're in for a long wait to see if the internet's casting power has worked, though, the film is still in pre-production and won't begin filming until early 2020.
