"The irony of it all, the name of it, everything is just nuts. It wasn't just a name, there's so many double entendres and it's so crazy looking back."

Shane Dawson has returned with his latest YouTube docu-series, The New World of Jeffree Star, and the first episode details how the controversial pair were set to collaborate on another eyeshadow palette that ended up getting scrapped.
The Cancelled World Of Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson features footage of Shane in the present day answering questions from his friends and family, interspersed with footage from early 2020 featuring him and Jeffree as they set out to make another palette.
After the success of the Conspiracy collection that featured the Conspiracy and Mini Controversy palettes, Shane and Jeffree had actually planned to release a third palette but the whole thing was completely scrapped after Shane was cancelled and demonetised for his offensive past videos and comments.

"Me and Jeffree were going to do another palette, we literally made it," current day Shane explains in the video. "We don't have the finished packaging but we have the actual palette."
"That was like back in February 2020, then obviously everything happened, and on top of that COVID and so many other things. I ended up saying, 'Let's not do this, you should take the shades, repurpose them if you want. It's too much of a risk but I don't know if I'm ever going to make anything on the internet ever again.'" (Shane did, in fact, return to the internet 15 months later.)
Shane then teases that he actually has the palette, and calls Jeffree to ask if it was ok if he showed it. In a voice note discussing the palette, Jeffree replies: "The irony of it all, the name of it, everything is just nuts. It wasn't just a name, there's so many double entendres and it's so crazy looking back."
Viewers will have to wait until part 2 (or part 3, probably) to find out what the palette was going to be called. But based on Jeffree's comment, and the name of the first episode? Was the palette meant to be called 'Cancelled'?
The Cancelled World Of Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson
Throughout the video, Shane shares old footage from February 2020 (two months after the release of the Conspiracy palette), showing him and Jeffree working to pull a new palette together.
"I'm not expecting this to be as big as the first palette, I know that. So does Jeffree," Shane explained. "We're both just doing it because we want to and we're excited."
Throughout the video, Shane also teases the shades that were set to be included. There's a shimmery black called 'Cancer', and a pale lilac named 'Scorpio'. There was a series of reds, browns, golds and nudes, fairly similar to Jeffree's Blood Sugar shades. A bunch of bright green colours were also in the mix, named 'Tea Hab', 'The Lab', and 'Shane Glossin'.
"Hopefully it doesn't flop," Shane adds at one point. Thankfully for Shane, it never even got the chance to flop, because it was never released.
Elsewhere in the video, Shane claps back at accusations that he and Jeffree made the palette as a "money grab" scheme.
Discussing the assumptions that he made loads of money off the success of the palette, Shane explains that he feels like he overhyped the money aspect in his documentary series, leading to several misconceptions.
"The truth of it is that I did not make anywhere near what people think I made," Shane says. "People think I made $10 or $20 million dollars from it. I did not."
According to Shane, the first palette made around "$30 million whatever", but only $10 million of that was profit because it cost around $20 million to produce. Shane got roughly 25% of those profits, and then gave 25% of his cut to his former editor Andrew Siwicki.
After taxes, Shane says he made a "great amount of money" from the experience but it wasn't "I can retire now" money.
