"I put my trust into other people's hands." JoJo Siwa issues a statement after her makeup kit is recalled from Claire's following FDA asbestos warning.
Teen YouTube star JoJo Siwa has finally broken her silence after her Claire's makeup kit was recalled from shelves earlier in June. The 16-year-old is speaking up following the FDA's warning for consumers not to use her makeup set after it tested positive for asbestos.
What is asbestos?
Today, the FDA is releasing new results from its continued testing of cosmetic products for asbestos & is warning consumers to not use 2 additional products that have tested positive for asbestos & have been recalled https://t.co/p4AACHd9y8 pic.twitter.com/DYtSelENEj

Exposure to asbestos can cause lung damage and other long term health risks, including cancer and mesothelioma, according to the British Lung Foundation.
In a 1:21 long video called "My Makeup" posted to JoJo's YouTube channel, the internet star addressed the controversy for the first time.
My Makeup.
"Recently it's been brought up to my attention that there has been a problem with one of my products in Claire's stores – with one of the JoJo makeup products."
"This product is something that, with a lot of things, that I put my trust into other people's hands. We are working really really really hard to make sure that this product is recalled and off all shelves. And also that anyone that has this product you can get a refund no matter what it is. If it's used, if it's unused, you can get a full refund."
JoJo also assured fans that the issue was 'serious to her'.
JoJo also defended the video on Twitter after someone called it an "odd" response.
She clarified that she had not manually disabled comments, but that comments were disabled by YouTube automatically because of her age.
This is a part of YouTube's bid to crack down on child predators by disabling comments for underage creators.
The teen star also defended the brevity of her video, saying that she didn't need to talk for 45 minutes about the issue.
In a statement to USA Today, Claire's confirmed that it will refund anyone who purchased the product.
