Jeffree Star warns against Cash App scam after impersonator asks his fans for money

Jeffree Star surprises fan with $30,000 amid coronavirus crisis

The fraudulent Cash App account has now been deactivated.

Jeffree Star has called out a scammer that has been impersonating him and asking his fans for money on Cash App.

In case you didn't know, Jeffree has been sending his fans thousands of dollars through Cash App in recent weeks to help them through the coronavirus pandemic. He even gifted one fan $30,000. But weirdly, the YouTuber was criticised for donating to those in need.

Well, it appears that people are still out here taking advantage of Jeffree's good deeds too. Someone is using a fake Jeffree Star Cash App profile to ask his fans for money under the ruse it's to verify a winner in a fake $1000 giveaway.

A fan alerted Jeffree on Twitter, sharing a screenshot of the CashApp account which showed Jeffree's picture. He replied: "100% FAKE!! I would NEVER ask anyone for money.

Beneath Jeffree's tweet, Cash App confirmed that they had deactivated the account. They wrote: "Hey, Jess! That’s fake. Please don’t sent them any funds. We also have deactivated that account. Let us know if you need help with anything!"

Alas, that wasn't the only account trying to con Jeffree's fans out of their money. Others shared screenshots of different accounts, using different spelling variations of Jeffree Star's name, that have attempted to scam them too. Thankfully, a Twitter user shared a way to help stop the scammers in their tracks.

They tweeted: "Hey guys one way to help ward them off is to turn off money requests on your cash app. Most scammers will look for the accounts they can request money from it's not a guarantee but it at least helps a little!"
