Jeffree Star calls Michelle Dy's new makeup brush line "trash"

With the launch of the Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson Conspiracy palette (Nov 1) just one day away and running Jeffree Star Cosmetics alongside it, you'd think Jeffree Star probably wouldn't have the time to engage in any YouTuber beef. Well, no. Jeffree is back at it again with a YouTuber from the Philippines named Michelle Dy.

Jeffree called Michelle's new line of makeup brushes "trash" after a Twitter user asked him to film an "honest review" of her products. He said: "I don't have time to review trash on my channel!" And I oop…

Soon after the tweet, Michelle did one of her own. She said: "I'm good luv, enjoy." The beauty YouTuber, who has almost 2.4 million subscribers, then defended the Michelle Dy Basics line and insisted she was "proud" of the products she had created.

She tweeted: "Call me trash all you want, but not the products which not just I, but a lot of people, worked hard for. If it didn't pass your standards, I cannot do anything about that. But one thing is for sure, I worked hard, poured my heart and 100% into it and I am proud of it."

Apparently, Jeffree and Michelle have been butting heads since August 2018. Basically, it all started when Michelle launched her own review series where here she would test makeup and then tell her subscribers if it had been "approved" by her or not. You know, kind of like the "Jeffree Star Approved" videos the makeup mogul has been making since 2016…

At the time, Jeffree called Michelle out on Snapchat. He said: "So there is a YouTuber who is not known here in America, but they recently tried to steal my 'approved' – trademarked – whole entire series and do it on their channel. I'm like, I know I didn't invent the word approved but girl, that's been my thing for two years now."

He added: "I'm like bitch, I'm not even gonna mention your name. Don't even bother searching for it after you hear this because we don't wanna give no one any clout. Thank god for lawyers. It's all draining. Why can't people just come up with their own fucking ideas."

Following Jeffree's Snapchat rant, Michelle deleted the series and apologised in a statement posted on Twitter.

She wrote: "Jeffree Star is one of the few YouTube gurus I watch and look up to in the YouTube community. Recently I uploaded 2 new videos in my youtube channel which was the 'MD Approved New Series' inspired by Jeffree, while it was clearly stated in the description box in the 2 videos that these new series in my channel were Piny version and inspired by international YouTubers, I was unaware that this 'Jeffree Star Approved' series is copyrighted in America.'

"I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize [sic] to Jeffree Star if in any way or another, I may have violated your rights from the use of your trademark. Videos from my channel has been deleted already and rest-assured that it will not happen again. Again, I am sorry."
