"This palette was my original design point blank period and wet and wild has ripped it off."
James Charles has accused beauty brand Wet n Wild of copying his 39-shade palette for Morphe and, clearly, he's pretty pissed about it.
Basically, it all started when Wet n Wild unveiled their new "40 Palette" (named after its 40 colourful pans of shadow) on Twitter during RuPaul's DragCon. The makeup brand also revealed the palette would be available in Fall 2019.

OK, it's just a lil' sneak peak but it does kind of look similar to James' palette. Like, down to the arrangement of the colours…Wet n Wild are known for their more affordable takes of expensive makeup and although they haven't confirmed the price of their upcoming palette, it's expected to be a lot cheaper than James' $39 Morphe one.
James Charles caught wind of the new Wet n Wild palette and it all kicked off.
That’s crazy... your “NEW” palette looks extremely similar. 🤔 https://t.co/ualEHvoLOP

there are only so many colors you can put into an eyeshadow palette & I’m not claiming to “own” specific colors. BUT when you copy the exact shades & layout from my palette without even TRYING to hide it...? 🤡🤡

"That’s crazy... your “NEW” palette looks extremely similar," he raged. "There are only so many colors you can put into an eyeshadow palette & I’m not claiming to “own” specific colors. BUT when you copy the exact shades & layout from my palette without even TRYING to hide it…?"
The conversation took an even shadier turn when Wet n Wild entered the chat. When asked about if they had copied James, Wet n Wild replied: "We certainly didn't copy the price."
We certainly didn't copy the price :)

And when one fan tried to accuse Wet n Wild of "stealing" James' ideas without consent, the brand decided to spill some tea. They tweeted: "The James Charles x Morphe palette was purchased by Morphe from Jiaxing Huasheng Cosmetics." And I Oop…
James then accused Wet n Wild of being "unprofessional", trying to discredit his hard work and trying to start drama, before adding: "This palette was my original design point blank period and wet and wild has ripped it off."
Whew...what a mess.
