Instagram and Facebook users are fighting back against the emoji ban.

You've probably heard the news that Instagram and Facebook quietly changed their policy on certain emojis (the eggplant, peach and water droplets), banning the use of emojis that are deemed too suggestive.

Under the new rules, emojis can no longer be used to suggest sexual activity. They also can't be used to censor body parts anymore, like the nipples. If you do, it could result in your post being removed, or your account being deactivated if you continue to do it repeatedly.

The ban was put into effect with the aim of stopping sex workers from offering their services on the social media platforms. However, it's apparent that it's not just sex workers who would be affected by the ban.

The news was met with backlash, like, how are we meant to communicate without the eggplant emoji!? Well, a Twitter user came up with the perfect solution.

Fran Tirado started a thread and encouraged others to share what could be used as an alternative to the banned emojis. He tweeted: "Now that the peach, eggplant, and water splash emojis are banned on Instagram, would like to start a thread here for creative solutions to alternative sexual emojis. I'll start."

Soon, comments ranged from the obvious hotdog to the less obvious mailbox.
