Greta Thunberg's "death stare" at Donald Trump has now become a meme
24 September 2019, 12:36
Greta Thunberg saw Donald Trump the same day her powerful United Nations speech about climate change.
Greta Thunberg memes are going viral and it's all thanks to a gif of the environmental activist glaring at Donald Trump.
Yesterday (Sep 24), Greta Thunberg delivered an important speech at the United Nations about climate change and the ways in which politicians are failing younger generations and the world at large. She said: "You are failing us but the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line."

Greta's speech was met with widespread praise but it wasn't just her speech which caught the internet's attention – it was her glare at Donald Trump.
While Greta was at the United Nations on Monday, she crossed paths with Donald Trump and the 16-year-old was caught on camera glaring at Trump. It's no secret that Donald Trump is one of the environment's biggest adversaries. As well as ripping literal families apart with his immigration laws, the president regularly dismisses global warming and makes no effort to work to ensure that the US is decreasing its carbon footprint.
Shortly after Greta's speech, Trump mocked her on Twitter writing: "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"
Greta is yet to respond but the video of her giving Trump a "death stare" has been transformed into a gif, which has, in turn, launched a thousand memes. People can't help but relate to Greta's disdain for Trump.

People are pointing out how Greta's speech targeted Trump.
Trump: “Climate change is a hoax.”
— Ryan Knight 🗽 (@ProudResister) September 23, 2019
Greta Thunberg: “Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money & fairytales of eternal economic growth.”
That’s why Greta’s nominated for a Nobel Peace prize and Trump’s not.
