People are doing the #BlackHairChallenge in support of Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle was told her hairstyles were "too black" for America's Got Talent.
As you know, the internet lives for its challenges and the latest just might be the most heartwarming yet. The #BlackHairChallenge is here in support of Gabrielle Union, who was let go from her judging role on America's Got Talent for making complaints about the toxic working environment.
Basically, Gabrielle made NBC aware of several racist incidents on set. According to Variety, the actress was also told "over half a dozen" times that her hairstyles were "too black" for America's Got Talent viewers. Eventually, Gabrielle was terminated from her role for calling out problematic behaviour that occurred throughout her time on the show.

A lot of celebrities have showed their support for Gabrielle, including Ariana Grande and Ellen Pompeo. Now her fans are showing their solidarity too by firing up the #BlackHairChallenge again.
Now, the challenge isn't exactly new. It actually started in May 2017, when a female empowerment account named Melanin Mamis decided it was time to show just how versatile black hair is. There are often negative connotations associated with black hairstyles and they're often deemed "unprofessional" if left natural.
So, Melanin Mami decided to fire up the challenge again on Twitter over two years later. "Feeling like we should start up the #blackhairchallenge again," they tweeted. "Post up to 4 pictures of yourself with this hashtag. Embrace your different hairstyles. We’re retweeting everyone!"
The possibilities are truly endless and the #BlackHairChallenge only proves that no hairstyle is "too black" for TV.
