You might want to slip off your blindfold to watch these videos.
It might be Christmas time but Netflix's latest horror movie Bird Box is all anyone is talking about this festive season. There's already been countless memes and now people are doing the 'Bird Box challenge' in the film's honour and, oh lord, it is very very funny and incredibly dumb.

37 hilarious 'Bird Box' memes that are worth taking off your blindfold to see
‘Bird Box’ originally had a much darker ending and it's so disturbing
For those not in the loop, the film stars Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, Danielle Macdonald and Machine Gun Kelly and it's about an invisible entity that can make people have hallucinations if they are exposed to it, and those hallucinations cause people to kill themselves. Merry Christmas!
Viewers never actually see the entity (although they did film a scene with the monster but deleted it). Instead, their presence is depicted by subtle actions like leaves blowing in the wind or dark shadows passing by. To avoid being haunted by their hallucinations, the characters in the film have to keep their eyes covered. If they don't, their eyes change colour to make them appear swirly and metallic and all manner and shady shit starts to go down.
What is the bird box challenge?
Now, it's all very well and good trying to avoid looking at the entities, but wearing a mask around your face is simply not practical, as the Bird Box challenge hilariously demonstrates. People are recreating the film by filming themselves going about their daily lives or going outside blindfolded and, somewhat inevitably, things go very wrong.
This kid might not have been possessed by the entity but he probably has mild concussion now, which is just as bad.

Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.
