The MTV Europe Music Awards 2012 (EMAs) took place in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday evening (11th November) at the city's Festhalle venue.

The event saw a number of huge profile performances from the likes of Taylor Swift, The Killers, Carly Rae Jepsen and Rita Ora as well as tribute to the late pop star Whitney Houston following her death earlier this year.

Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber were the big winners of the night while Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction also picked up multiple awards, at the event hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum.

Among Taylor's multiple award wins were Best Female and Best Live Act, while 'Boyfriend' singer Justin Bieber took home the highly coveted Best World Stage award against a huge selection of nominated pop peers.

One Direction won both awards they were up for, Best New Act and Biggest Fans, after previously being named Best UK & Ireland Act, while the likes of Nicki Minaj, David Guetta and Lana Del Rey were also winners at this year's EMAs.
