Jamie Morton talks us through his Dad's erotic novel and its 20 million fans...

Imagine if, one day, your Dad decided to become an author. But not an author of gory crime novels, loved up poetry or friendly children's books. What if your Dad suddenly revealed himself to be the author of "Belinda Blinked", an erotic book so filthy it would be reported on Wattpad and make E.L. James blush? 

Well then, avid reader, you would be Jamie Morton.

 

 

Fortunately for Jamie, he has been able to take this rather uncomfortable realisation and turn it into one of the most successful and hilarious podcasts around, the self-explanatory "My Dad Wrote A Porno". 

We chatted to him about the sudden rise to fame of his amateur author father (Jamie joins us at 24m 20s).

Born out of a chat in the pub with future co-hosts James & Alice, the podcast and its tales of our heroine Belinda as she navigates through her ridiculous sexual awakening has attracted a loyal following of millions of listeners, live shows, a string of celebrity fans (Michael Sheen and Daisy Ridley have been recent guests on the show) and now a tie-in book inspired by the series.

We treated "Belinda Blinked" as if it were a literary masterpiece and our book is kind of a spoof study guide of the text. So that's kind of how we approached the book. So maybe people will look at it in years to come and think that it's an actual textbook.

The book really does give all the best additional notes you could hope for to help you better understand the mind of Rocky Flintstone, the pen name of Jamie's dad, and help elevate this masterpiece to the level of reverence expected of the classics.

 

 

But why stop at just books? What about the rumoured musical adaptation of "Belinda Blinked"?

We had Rachel Bloom on who does "Crazy-Ex Girlfriend" on the show. So we got some pointers from her...It would be filthy and disgusting. A lineup of cl*ts doing the can-can. Tap dancing vaginas.

However, while the influence of Belinda has had a positive effect on pop culture, has Rocky Flintstone inadvertently spawned the rise of presidential candidate Donald Trump?

Well there was the whole thing of Trump grabbing a p*ssy and there's a line in "Belinda Blinked" where someone consensually grabs a cervix.
