"You have people you are friends with and people you are not."
It's been four whole years since One Direction decided to go on hiatus and, no, we're still not over it. Since then, the relationship between Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan hasn't soured. However, the same can't be said for Zayn Malik, who left the band before their hiatus in 2015.

Niall is currently promoting his new solo album, Heartbreak Weather, which will be released on Friday 13 March. In a new interview with GQ, Niall admitted that he actually fell out with Zayn a few years ago.
"As long as I’ve known him, Zayn's been the hardest man to stay in touch with," he explained. "Then we had a falling out a few years ago and, to be honest, that’s just the dynamic: you have people you are friends with and people you are not."
It's well known that Zayn doesn’t speak to any of his former bandmates anymore. In 2019, Louis said it "bugged" him when Zayn failed to show up at his first solo performance on The X Factor, just days after his mother's death in 2016. Meanwhile both Harry and Liam have made jokes about Zayn's unexpected departure from the group.
However, Niall went on to say that he makes an effort to see the other boys when he can, especially Louis and Liam. He added: "We don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like to, but we try. I talk to Louis a lot. It’s the lads with the kids that you try to keep in touch with especially, just to see how they are."
