The 'Scream & Shout' rapper will have a hand in the creation of Britney's next studio offering.
Will.i.am has confirmed he is the executive producer for Britney Spears' upcoming new album, and has been getting to know the iconic pop star to help their work together.
The 'This Is Love' rapper previously teamed up with Britney on the songs 'Big Fat Bass' and 'Scream & Shout', and says he and the 'Criminal' singer have a great working relationship now.
"After I did a song on 'Femme Fatale', [called] 'Big Fat Bass', and then we did 'Scream & Shout', she really liked the way we worked because of my approach," will.i.am revealed to Rolling Stone magazine this past week. "So they asked me to be involved, not producing and writing every song, but to be an executive producer on the songs.
Will.i.am went on to reveal one of his conditions for working on Britney's eighth studio outing was getting to meet up with the singer a number of times before they even started the record, to find out more about her life and personality.
"I was like, 'OK look guys, me and Britney need to have lunch four times a month for three months before I even try to go in the studio with her," he explained. "We need to talk about what she's excited about in life.
"I gotta talk about the things that hurt her, I gotta talk about the things that make her concerned, she's a mother.
"We can't do another song about going on the dance floor. Didn't we see a bunch of Britney doing that already? Don't we want to see something that comes from her heart?" he teased.
