Trisha Paytas says she received "so much hate" after recreating My Chemical Romance music video

In February, Trisha shared her remake of the 'Helena' music video.
Trisha Paytas is known for pulling some controversial stunts. In 2019, the YouTuber famously declared she was transgender. She then engaged in a public feud with Gabbie Hanna and Gabi DeMartino. However, her most controversial stunt of all? Being a My Chemical Romance stan.
My Chemical Romance have an undeniably large and loyal fanbase, but it appears that some of the Killjoys aren't so welcoming to Trisha, who was dragged by MCR stans for recreating one of their music videos.

In case you missed it, earlier this month, Trisha decided to produce her own version of My Chemical Romance's music video for their track 'Helena' from their second studio album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. In the clip, Trisha went full-blown emo and traded her blonde hair for a black wig and smokey eye makeup โ just like MCR frontman Gerard Way.
Whilst she created the video to pay homage to MCR, their fans were not impressed and began to troll Trisha over her "disgusting and revolting" recreation of the video. So on Wednesday (19 Feb), Trisha dropped a new video reading hate comments from MCR fans.
Trisha revealed that although she doesn't consider herself to be an emo, she has been a MCR fan from the very beginning. "At first I thought it was just a little bit of hate and it would die down but holy shit you guys, this is a really big deal," she explained. "I've never got so much hate in my life."
Trisha then pulled up hate comments from MCR fans, including a popular stan account that DM'd her abusive messages. Trisha was accused of neglecting the other members of MCR by only impersonating Gerard, being a fake fan, hopping on the MCR hype because of their upcoming reunion tour and making a mockery of the band.
She was also accused of "sexualising" the song, which band members Gerard and Mikey Way have previously confirmed is about their late grandmother. She added: "I don't see how I'm making it sexual? What, because I'm a girl, I'm a female, I have a curvier body type than the girl in the video?"
Trisha, who claimed she made no money from the music video, added that she had a personal connection to 'Helena' because it helped her through a difficult period in her life. Trisha said her addictive personality means she grasps onto things from pop culture and she's "stuck in the 00s". By returning to that time โ a traumatic period in her life โ it helps.
Another reason behind the video was her connection to Gerard in particular. Trisha explained how his openness about gender identity was admirable, having been through her own struggle with it too.
She continued: "I have always related to Gerard specifically because he has always spoken about his gender identity issues that he's struggled with in the past. When he was growing up his classmates considered him a girl, so it kind of triggered him, so he thought that way. I feel like no-one has ever spoken about that from a position ofโฆ like, I wouldn't consider him trans. I wouldn't consider him having transitioned.

"I thought that was interesting to hear from someone who is still cisgender talking about thoughts of being transgender because not everyone feels that way and questions that. I really like that he talked out about that."
