Paramore condemn man for allegedly assaulting multiple girls at their show

Paramore have released a statement after a man allegedly "physically and verbally assaulted multiple women" at their show.

Last week (Oct 2), Paramore launched their first tour since taking a hiatus in 2019. They kicked off their Fall 2022 Tour in the US performing classic hits like 'Still Into You', 'Decode' and 'Hard Times'. Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York have also performed their new single 'This Is Why' for the first time and surprised fans by bringing back 'Misery Business'.

On Tuesday (Oct 4), Paramore performed in Salt Like City and, following the show, several women claimed that a man had harassed them in the audience. Now, Paramore have responded to the allegations and condemned the man's actions.

In a public statement, Paramore wrote: "After last night's show in SLC, we were made aware of an incident that happened in the crowd while we were onstage. A man physically and verbally assaulted multiple women, including an engaged couple at our show. Our security team and venue staff were made aware and were able to restrain and remove him."

The band continued: "We did not realize this was happening, as the incident took place out of view from stage. Had we seen any of this happening, we would have stopped the show until the situation was under control. PARAMORE DOES NOT CONDONE violence, homophobia, or bigotry of any kind. It is suprememly unwelcome in our community and has no place at our shows."

Paramore ended the statement writing: "To the fans who were hurt by or who witnessed what happened last night, we are so sorry. We hope that you know we will always do anything we can to protect you and make you feel celebrated. To make things as clear as possible: Paramore shows are meant to be a safe place for people. If you can't respect that, do not come."

Paramore will continue their tour in Omaha, Nevada tonight. The band have also announced new 2023 dates in South America.
