Shawn Mendes was cut in the face by a fan during his tour

Being a global superstar isn't all it's cracked up to be, ya know.

Sure, you get to travel the world, earn some serious cash and you've got millions of adoring fans, but one of them might slash you in the face… Well, that's what happened to Shawn Mendes at least.

The "In My Blood" singer revealed he had been cut in the face by an overzealous supporter, after he was spotted with a gash on his cheek.

Fans began to notice a cut on Shawn's near-perfect mug after he posted an Instagram story following a performance in Lisbon. Shawn – who is currently on his world tour – reportedly shared how he acquired the battle scar during a meet and greet in Zurich, Switzerland, before a Shawn Mendes Updates page updated his loyal fanbase.

"Well, when I'm finishing the show I go down to the front row of the crowd and someone scratched my cheek in Italy," he said. Ouch!

Don't worry though, the damage doesn't seem to have dented Shawn's spirits one bit as he continued with the European leg of his tour – phew.
