Taylor opens up about Andrea Swift's cancer in her 'Soon You'll Get Better’ lyrics.
Taylor Swift's Lover is finally here and fans are crying over her 'Soon You'll Get Better' lyrics about her mum's battle with cancer.
Ever since Taylor Swift released her debut album in 2006, she's written heartbreakingly personal songs. From 'The Best Day' and 'All Too Well' to 'Clean' and 'New Year's Day', it's hard not to be moved by Taylor's music. On Lover, we see Taylor take on new lyrical themes. In 'The Man' she calls out sexism, in 'London Boy' she opens up about living in the UK and in 'You Need to Calm Down' she addresses LGBTQ+ rights. In many ways, it's her most political album to date.

However, it's 'Soon You'll Get Better' featuring the Dixie Chicks which fans are really moved by.
In 'Soon You'll Get Better', Taylor sings about her mum's experience with cancer. Taylor first opened up about Andrea having cancer via her Tumblr page in September, 2015. She wrote: "I'm writing to you with an update I wish I wasn't giving you. I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer." She then continued: "I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know".
Taylor also addressed Andrea's cancer in an Elle profile: "I’ve had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family. Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again. It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else. My mom’s cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now."
Taylor Swift - Soon You’ll Get Better (Official Audio) ft. Dixie Chicks
In 'Soon You'll Get Better', Taylor sings: 'Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too' and 'And I hate to make this all about me/But who am I supposed to talk to?/What am I supposed to do/If there's no you?'
It's a beautiful ballad which anyone who's ever had a loved one face a serious illness can relate to. Fans are now praising Taylor for releasing such a personal song.

I love how Taylor did most of the singing in Soon You’ll Get Better. She’s singing to her mom. Having the Dixie chicks do the background vocals was the perfect amount to not overshadow the song ❤️ #Lover

Our thoughts are with Taylor, Andrea and the rest of their family.
VERSE 1: Taylor Swift
The buttons of my coat were tangled in my hair
In doctor's office lighting, I didn't tell you I was scared
That was the first time we were there
Holy orange bottles, each night, I pray to you
Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too
And I say to you...
CHORUS: Taylor Swift & Dixie Chicks
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
You'll get better soon
'Cause you have to
VERSE 2: Taylor Swift
I know delusion when I see it in the mirror
You like the nicer nurses, you make the best of a bad deal
I just pretend it isn't real
I'll paint the kitchen neon, I'll brighten up the sky
I know I'll never get it, there's not a day that I won't try
And I say to you...
CHORUS: Taylor Swift & Dixie Chicks
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
You'll get better soon
'Cause you have to
BRIDGE: Taylor Swift & Dixie Chicks
And I hate to make this all about me
But who am I supposed to talk to?
What am I supposed to do
If there's no you?
PRE-CHORUS: Taylor Swift
This won't go back to normal, if it ever was
It's been years of hoping, and I keep saying it because
'Cause I have to
CHORUS: Taylor Swift & Dixie Chicks
Ooh-ah
You'll get better
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
You'll get better soon
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
Soon, you'll get better
Ooh-ah
You'll get better soon
'Cause you have to
