Get clued up on Taylor's upcoming Netflix documentary.
Good news Taylor Swift fans! The singer is set to premiere her new documentary film ‘Miss Americana’ very soon and we've been speculating on what we can expect from the star's new feature length movie.
Directed by Lana Wilson, the film follows Taylor over several years of her life to give a behind-the-scenes look at the life and career of the star. According to Netflix, the film offers a “raw and emotionally revealing look” at Taylor “during a transformational period in her life as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice”. Phew.
But when exactly will the film be released? What songs will it feature and is there a trailer yet?
Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming film.
What’s the release date of Taylor Swift’s Miss Americana?
The film may be getting its first showing at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23rd but for everyone else, we’ll have to wait for its official release date of January 31st, when the film will be available on Netflix as well as in a few select theatres.
Has the trailer for Miss Americana been released yet?
Yes! You can watch it below, featuring cameos from Brendon Urie and Taylor's boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

What songs will feature in the Netflix documentary?
Taylor released a live concert film of her Reputation stadium tour in 2018, so it’s unlikely the documentary will feature mostly live performances. However, since that film, she’s also got new album ‘Lover’ to select songs from, so it's likely the film will feature her making some of those songs. Apart from that, there's not much info yet on exactly what we can expect to feature in the film itself.
We *do* know the documentary will definitely feature some of Taylor’s songs though, despite early fears it might not. Taylor was forced to announce the project early after her feud with Scooter Braun, which saw the record executive buy Taylor’s old record label Big Machine from founder Scott Borchetta last year.
“Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year,” she explained. ‘Additionally – and this isn’t the way I had planned on telling you this news – Netflix has created a documentary about my life for the past few years.”
Variety then reported in December that the music rights for the film had been cleared ‘in a timely manner’, so Miss Americana will most likely be soundtracked by all of Taylor’s best hits.
Will Miss Americana talk about the Scooter Braun feud then?
Most probably not. Speaking about the drama with Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun last year, Taylor said: “Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film.”
Do we know what the poster for the Miss Americana looks like?
