Taylor Swift reveals how Fall Out Boy inspired 'Blank Space'

Taylor Swift revealed that she recently joined Brendon Urie and Pete Wentz for the “most emo dinner party” where she asked them "every single question". The 'Lover' singer also opened about how her appreciation for the lyricism of Pete Wentz.
Most Taylor Swift fans will know that the 'Lover' singer is a big fan of pop-punk icons Fall Out Boy. In fact, Taylor told Rolling Stone back in September that Fall Out Boy's songwriting influenced her "more than anyone else" lyrically. Now Taylor has expanded on that in a new interview with Zane Lowe, where she revealed that she recently attended "the most emo dinner party".

What does the "most emo dinner party" entail, you ask? Taylor explained how she'd recently been over to the home of Panic! at the Disco singer Brendon Urie and his wife Sarah as a guest, alongside none other than Pete Wentz.
She said: "I was actually at 'the most emo dinner party' the other night. Because Brendon Urie and Sarah, his amazing wife, had me over. I show up and it's like Brendon and Pete Wentz sitting next to each other. And I just got to ask them every single question."
When it comes to lyrical ability, Taylor revealed that she seriously rates Pete Wentz. She added: "Pete Wentz is probably...if I had to pick a favourite lyricist, it would be a tie between him and Lana Del Rey."
Taylor also explained how Fall Out Boy's songwriting style influenced her own music, specifically her song 'Blank Space'.
"Blank Space is a song that's just zingers," she explained. "One after another after another which I definitely learned from listening to Fall Out Boy."
In her previous Rolling Stone interview, Taylor said of Fall Out Boy: "They take a phrase and they twist it. 'Loaded God complex/Cock it and pull it?' When I heard that, I was like, 'I’m dreaming.'"
