The puppet studio has reportedly claimed that the damages incurred by the band for overusing the puppets could be in the millions of dollars.
Remember those llamas who appeared throughout Fall Out Boy's MANIA era? Well, it looks like they might be about to get FOB in big trouble. According to Reuters, Furry Puppet Studio Inc. (the company who produced the llama puppets) has filed a lawsuit against the band, claiming that they only gave Fall Out Boy permission to use the llama puppets in the video for 'Young and Menace'.
Furry Puppet Studio claims that the band continued to use their puppets after the video, featuring them in other videos and on tours. And as any Fall Out Boy fan will know, those llamas appeared in quiiiiite a few places during the era...
In case you haven't been keeping count, the FOB llamas (Frosty and Royal Tea) have appeared in a bunch of videos including 'Young and Menace', 'The Last Of The Real Ones' and 'Bishops Knife Trick'. They also appeared along side the band during several promotional outings, appeared on tour, were turned into various merch products and Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie even appeared in one of the costumes in a teaser video posted on Instagram.
The llamas also fronted an extended EP called Llamania (by Frosty & The Nightmare Making Machine) which consisted of three unreleased demos.
According to the complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, the overuse of the llama suits apparently violates the agreement between the band and the company who own the puppets. The puppet studio has reportedly claimed that the damages incurred by the band for using the puppets illegally could be millions of dollars.
The band - and the llamas - are yet to respond to the suit.
