The video of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello making out on Instagram went viral last month.
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello received backlash for a video of them making out and now Camila has defended it.
On September 12, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello broke the internet. All summer long, fans of the two artists have been following their budding romance. First things first, they collaborated on their Number 1 hit 'Señorita', then they were spotted passionately kissing in public and, finally, they confirmed that they are boyfriend and girlfriend. However, nothing captured the internet's attention more than when the two of them posted a video of them snogging with tongue on Instagram.

The video was met with a couple of negative remarks and now Camila has clapped back at them in a new video.
Speaking to KISS, Camila answered various questions which people have tweeted about her recently. In it, she confirms that her new album Romance is inspired by her "first serious relationship" and she jokingly offers to adopt a fan with Shawn. She also speaks about the video of her kissing Shawn. Someone asked: "u tellin me shawn mendes and camila cabello kiss like that all the time... like everyday???????" Exasperated, Camila defends the video saying: "No. That's the joke".
And in all fairness to Camila, it's pretty clear in the original video that she and Shawn were only joking. In it, Shawn says: "So we, um, we saw like on Twitter and stuff, you guys saying stuff about the way we're kissing and how it looks weird. Like, we kiss like fish". Camila adds: "Yeah, you guys really hurt our feelings" and then Shawn explains: "We just want to show you how we really kiss". They then make out so outrageously that it's obviously not meant to be taken seriously.
In other words, the video of them literally kissing like fish with tongues everywhere is definitely a joke!

Thankfully most celebs got in on the joke. Justin Bieber commented: "U guys are fuckin weird. And I like it" and Niall simply posted a bunch of laughing emojis under the video. However, it also inspired a lot of memes of people hoping to "unsee it" and Billie Eilish even reacted by writing: "Yiiiiikes".
Essentially, it makes sense that Camila would want to reiterate that it's a joke and we're glad that's cleared up.
