The 'La La La' singer says he has been left speechless after being named winner of the accolade.
Sam Smith has been announced the winner of the 2014 BRITs Critics' Choice Award fresh from his huge performances at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball 2013 last weekend.
The 21 year-old singer, who has already featured on hits like Naughty Boy's 'La La LA' and Disclosure's 'Latch', was revealed this morning (12th December) as the winner of this year's prize, which has previously been won by artists like Jessie J and Adele.
"HOLY S**T!!!! I have just won a Brit Award. I really don't know what to say," Sam tweeted soon after hearing the news this week.
The UK star beat out competition from rising artists Ella Eyre and Chloe Howl to be named winner of this year's prize, and will be presented with the award officially at the BRITs nominations event on 9th January by 2013 winner Tom Odell.
Sam Smith is currently preparing for the release of his debut solo single 'Money On My Mind' on 16th February, and has been filming a music video for the song this week.
