Rihanna to open AMAs

Rihanna's set to open the show at this year's American Music Awards.

Word is the 22 year old will get things underway at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles with her new single "Only Girl (In the World)

Other confirmed performers on the night will include Usher, Pink and Bon Jovi.

The nominations came out earlier in the month with B.o.B., Katy Perry, Kesha and Usher each receiving three.

Artist of the Year is, as you would expect, a heavyweight category with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Ke$sha for the girls taking on Eminem and Justin Bieber.

Rihanna has one chance of scopping an award. She's up against Alicia Keys and Sade for Favorite Female Artist in Soul/Rhythm & Blues music.
