Twenty One Pilots Were One Of Highest-Paid Musicians In 2017

Not bad for a band that didn't have an album out last year.
If you needed any more proof that Twenty One Pilots are one of the biggest bands in the world, then look no further than their placing on Billboard's annual musicians rich list.
Despite the lack of new releases and spending most of the year in DEMA writing their new album, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun still managed to hit no.44 on the list of the highest paid musicians of 2017.
This is particularly impressive as they managed to beat Taylor Swift and their special fren Brendon Urie aka Panic! At The Disco, who came in no.47 and no.48 respectively.
According to Billboard, they earned $11 million, which was broken down to four categories: touring ($5.1 million), publishing ($2.7 million), streaming ($2 million) and sales ($1.2 million). Last year they were at no.13 on the list but obviously made significantly less money because they were writing their next record TRENCH.
The list was largely dominated by 'heritage' artists, defined as those who have been active for at least 20 years and/or released a minimum of 10 albums. U2 took the no.1 spot with $54.4 million while Garth Brooks, Metallica, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran rounding out the top five.
So, where do you think Twenty One Pilots will end up after this year's touring and album release? The band are due to begin the Bandito tour in October, starting in North America and the Australia and New Zealand. European dates will follow in 2018. TRENCH is set to be released on October 5th.
