The 'Kiss You' singer was forced to leave halfway through an appearance in Tokyo because he felt sick.
One Direction star Zayn Malik was forced to rush off stage at a press conference in Japan after falling ill during the band's trip to Tokyo this week.
The 'Little Things' singer arrived in Japan alongside his four bandmates on Thursday (17th January), but caused a stir yesterday when he had to back out of an appearance due to feeling sick.
"He had been rubbing his tummy throughout the proceedings, then suddenly he took a deep breath and dashed off stage because he felt so unwell," a source told The Mirror this weekend.
"The others were all looking around concerned for a while, then Niall checked with management to see if he was ok," the source recalled. "They moved up to take his seat away so it didn't look too weird, while Zayn went back to his hotel to recover."
The 'Live While We're Young' singers were making their first visit to Japan, to announce two additional dates in the country for their upcoming 'Take Me Home' world tour.
Reports suggest Zayn, who also unveiled a new hairstyle this week, may have been suffering after the band's first night in Tokyo where they enjoyed drinks and karaoke together.
"We had a great night, it was loads of fun," band member Liam Payne recalled. "We sang lots of song, in particular some Jay-Z. There was a 50 Cent number, the Baha Men."
