The UK five-piece's album 'Midnight Memories' has helped them earn a new accolade for last year.
One Direction have been named the top recording act across the world for 2013, following the reveal of a new top ten by the Global Recording Artist Chart.
The 'Best Song Ever' five-piece saw huge success in 2013 following the release of their third album 'Midnight Memories', and Syco label boss Simon Cowell was quick to congratulate the band on the news.
So one direction were the biggest selling artists in 2013. I know how much they put into this record from start to finish. Very proud.

Eminem took the number two spot on the newly unveiled top ten, while Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry round of the top five, which is calculated from physical and digital music sales as well as online streaming revenue.
