Tom Daley Joins One Direction?: "I'm The Sixth Member!"

The Olympic medalist has teased that he could join the UK band as their newest member.

Tom Daley has joked that he has joined chart-topping boy band One Direction, after being tweeted by Capital FM about his recent night out alongside 'Gotta Be You' singer Liam Payne.

The Team GB bronze medal winner, who picked up his first Olympic medal in the mens 10m diving final at the London 2012 Olympic Games, got to meet the One Direction star during a night out in London over the weekend.

Both Tom Daley and Liam's girlfriend Danielle Peazer tweeted pictures of their meeting at the end of last week, and the 18 year-old diving prodigy has now joked he will join the band as their newest and sixth member.

"@Real_Liam_Payne and I last night :)," Tom tweeted on Friday (17th August), before replying to a Capital FM tweet by joking: "Haven't you heard. I'm the 6th member ;)."

'What Makes You Beautiful' singer Liam's girlfriend Danielle Peazer also seemed excited about getting to meet the Team GB star, and joked that Tom might be giving her a diving lesson in the near future.

"Really excited about the diving lesson I'm gonna have from my new friend, apparently he's pretty good @TomDaley1994," Danielle tweeted over the weekend.

The 'One Thing' five-piece are currently hard at work on the follow-up to their 2011 debut album 'Up All Night', and were in the recording studio with McFly frontman Tom Fletcher last week.

One Direction have yet to announce an official release date for their second studio record but have promised it will be out before the end of 2012.
