The 'One Thing' stars also wished the British diver good luck in his next Olympic event.

One Direction stars Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have sent British Olympic diver Tom Daley message of good luck ahead of his next event at the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as urging the 18 year-old to ignore negative messages he received online after his last performance.

The young British diver was subjected to online abuse on Monday after finishing fourth alongside teammate Peter Waterfield in the men's 10 metre synchronised event, following which a 17 year-old was arrested by police and given a warning for harassment.

"@TomDaley1994 ignore them d******ds mate we all sat and watched you today and we though u did incredible," One Direction star Liam Payne tweeted to 18 year-old Tom on Monday evening (30th July).

"@Tomdaley1994 mate, best of luck for the individual. I'll be watching!!" fellow band member Louis Tomlinson also posted, ahead of Tom Daley's next Olympic event, to which he later replied: "Thanks :( RT."

'One Thing' singer Liam also posted a congratulations to Team GB member Kristian Thomas for winning bronze as part of the men's gymnastics team final on Monday, as both hail from Wolverhampton in the Midlands.

He posted: "@Kristian_Thomas congratulations mate, you did amazing today. Nice to see a fellow Wolverhamptoner doing so well!"

It was reported last week that One Direction are "definitely" scheduled to perform at the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony, although no official announcement has been made as yet.

One Direction have also been announced as performing at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012 next month, after picking up nominations for Best New Act and Best Pop Video for their US debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful'.
