One Direction's Liam Payne Wrestles TNA Champion Kurt Angle For 1D Day

The boy band singer put on his tights and wrestling match for a bout with the former WWE star.

One Direction star Liam Payne got the chance of a lifetime when he wrestled TNA star Kurt Angle as part of the band's album launch celebrations over the weekend.

The 'Best Song Ever' star got into characters as 'The Payne Train' for the 1D Day event on Saturday (23rd November), and dressed up as a lucha libre wrestler for the tongue-in-cheek celebrations.

After the 'match' out in Los Angeles, Kurt even presented Liam with a replica of his TNA World Heavyweight title belt after their showdown in the ring.

"Liam Payne getting World title from me! What a day!" Kurt tweeted after the pair's showdown. "Thanks @OneDirection. Much love."

The 1D day event took place over the weekend to celebrate the launch of One Direction's new album 'Midnight Memories' yesterday (25th November).
