The 'Part Of Me' singer was spotted leaning in to her close friend as she mouthed along to the boyband's hit single.
One Direction made their debut performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2012 in Los Angeles last night (6th September).
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' stars gave a rousing rendition of their 'Up All Night' hit 'One Thing' which was greeted by a chorus of screams throughout.
During the performance, the camera panned to Katy Perry who could be seen singing along to the track and leaning in to her close friend Rihanna at the same time.
Harry, Louis, Niall, Liam and Zayn had the audience inside the Staples Center clapping along to their single before – with their platform being raise towards the skies at the end of their performance.
As well as their performance, the band also won three awards on the night including Best Pop Video, Best New Artist and Most Shareworthy Video.

The group were presented with their Best Pop Video awards by Katy – who planted a kiss on Niall and Harry as they came to collect their prize.
