Harry and Amelia have been confirmed as the top baby names at present in England and Wales.
Harry and Amelia have been announced as the most popular baby names in the UK, suggesting that pop stars Harry Styles and Amelia Lily could be serving as role models for a new generation of youngsters.
In figures announced today (13th August) by the Office for National Statistics, Harry was announced as the overall most popular boys name across England in Wales, emerging top in seven out of ten regions across the country.
The name has been popularised in recent years by the One Direction star as well as the likes of Prince Harry and literary icon Harry Potter.
Amelia has become the most popular girls name in the UK for the very first time, just one year after 17 year-old Amelia Lily starred as a contestant on The X Factor UK, finishing as a runner-up on the 2011 series of the show.
The young pop singer is currently preparing to release her debut single 'You Bring Me Joy', which is due to be officially released on 26th August.

Other popular boys names at present include Oliver, Jack, Charlie, Alfie and Thomas, while girls names popular this year include Olivia, Lily, Jessica and Emily.
One Direction star Harry Styles is currently celebrating after he and his 'Gotta Be You' bandmates performed a successful set at the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony last night (12th August), where they took to the stage at the Olympic Stadium to sing 'What Makes You Beautiful' for the thousands in attendance.
