The 'One Thing' stars admit they are not good enough actors to be able to fake their close bond.
One Direction say it's "frustrating" for them when people question whether the band's friendship is real or contrived.
The 'Live While We're Young' singers say it's "so evident" that the five boys are all really good mates that it upsets them when it's suggested it could all be an act for the sake of the band.
"It's such a frustrating question," band member Louis Tomlinson told Australian TV show Sunday Night over the weekend. "Because I just don't understand how you can see the way that we are together, on camera and off camera, and look at it as if it's being contrived.
"Because it's so evident that we do get on so well," he explained. "And I just don't think we're good enough actors to pull off that kind of friendship!"

One Direction were put together during the 2010 series of The X Factor UK, after the five boys failed to get through to the judges houses stage of the competition, and have gone on to become one of the most successful acts in the show's history.
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' singers announced last week that 'Little Things' will be the second single to be released from their new album, and shot the music video several days ago as well as unveiling the official single artwork.
One Direction are set to return with new album 'Take Me Home' on 12th November.
