Niall Horan and Liam Payne surprise customers at the mall with performance of 'What Makes You Beautiful'.
One Direction have performed an impromptu gig at Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush, London.
The band's Niall Horan and Liam Payne played acoustically for unsuspecting customers and employees at the mall this afternoon (2nd August).
Fans had been speculating on Twitter that the group may appear at the shopping centre on Twitter, but nothing was confirmed before Niall and Liam's appearance.
Several pictures posted online show the pair performing near an escalator at the shopping centre, while backed by a small band for the performance.
Capitalfm.com understands that one of the tracks Niall and Liam performed was their biggest hit, 'What Makes You Beautiful'. Following their performance, the pair headed towards the car park with hoards of fans following them.
One employee of a company based at Westfield and a One Direction fan said she was thrilled to watch the band in such an intimate environment and now "feels so close to them".
Meanwhile, on Twitter, Ben Eade wrote: "Niall and Liam from one direction buskin in Westfield shopping centre! #onedirection #Westfield #buskin."
Another Twitter user, @Gurleen_B, posted this picture of Liam and Niall performing at Westfield:
One Direction are currently in London working on their new album and follow-up to last year's 'Up All Night'. The album has yet to be given a release date, but is expected before the end of 2012.
The band returned to the UK last month following a massive headline tour in the US, which featured support from Olly Murs.
