Plastic Hearts is also the first album Miley has released since her divorce from Liam Hemsworth and she opens up about it throughout the project. With that in mind, here are just a few of the key Liam Hemsworth references in the album's lyrics.
Which Plastic Hearts songs are about Liam Hemsworth?
1) 'WTF Do I Know'
'I had to leave you in your own misery'
Plastic Hearts opens with an epic kiss-off track in which Miley sings about everything from her reputation to her relationship history. In the chorus, Miley sings: "What the fuck do I know? I'm alone / 'Cause I couldn't be somebody's hero / You want an apology? Not from me / I had to leave you in your own misery". Fans think that she is taking aim at Liam on it.
2) 'Angels Like You'
'It's not your fault I ruin everything / And it's not your fault I can't be what you need'
As well as biting lyrics, Miley shows her more emotional side on Plastic Hearts. 'Angels Like You' is a moving ballad in which she admits that she's wrong for someone she loves. Miley sings: "I brought you down to your knees / 'Cause they say that misery loves company / It's not your fault I ruin everything / And it's not your fault I can't be what you need."
Miley ends the chorus singing: "Baby, angels like you can't fly down here with me." and fans think that the angel in question is Liam.

3) 'Prisoner'
'I tasted Heaven, now I can't live without it / I can't forget you and your love is the loudest'
'Prisoner' is a song about being trapped in a relationship and being unable to let someone go even though they're wrong for you. Miley sings: "I tasted Heaven, now I can't live without it / I can't forget you and your love is the loudest". It seems likely that she is referring to Liam since she was with him on and off for over 10 years.
4) 'Midnight Sky'
'Lotta years went by with my hands tied up in your ropes / Forever and ever, no more'
As soon as 'Midnight Sky' came out in August, people began speculating that some of the lyrics were aimed at Liam. When she sings: "Lotta years went by with my hands tied up in your ropes / Forever and ever, no more", it's hard to think of who else those lyrics could be about.

5) 'High'
'And in my head, I did my very best saying goodbye, goodbye / And I don't miss you but I think of you and don't know why
I still feel high'
'High' is a heartbreaking ballad in which Miley sings about imagining she's back with a past love. She sings: "Sometimes I stay up all night / 'Cause you don't ever talk to me in my dreams / And I think about eventually you're holdin' me / And dancin' to the record like a movie scene".
6) 'Never Be Me'
'If you're looking for someone to be all that you need / That'll never be me'
'Never Be Me' is a song in which Miley warns a lover that she might not be exactly who they want her to be. She sings: "But if you're looking for stable, that'll never be me / If you're looking for faithful, that'll never be me / If you're looking for someone to be all that you need / That'll never be me".
Given Miley's history with Liam, fans think that it applies to their relationship.
