The US star says the "emotional" new song was written about wanting to end a romance.
Miley Cyrus has opened up about a new song called 'Drive' that was reportedly written about the end of her engagement to former fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
The couple became engaged in May 2012 but representatives for the pair confirmed earlier this month that the engagement had been called off, and Miley has now opened up about the "emotional" new song and its significance to her own love life.
"I wrote it while I was working on Valentine's Day, emotionally it was such a hard time," Miley reveals in an interview in the new issue of FASHION magazine. "It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship.
"It's a time when you want to leave but you can't," the 'We Can't Stop' singer explained. "It's also about moving on."

In the same interview Miley also spoke about her controversial Robin Thicke duet at the MTV VMAs 2013, and revealed the network actually censored some of the move risqué parts of their performance.
Miley Cyrus officially launches her new album 'Bangerz' on 8th October.
