The US star says she never felt the need to pretend she was as good of a person as her on-screen character.
Miley Cyrus says she has never tried to be as a good as former character Hannah Montana and says she doesn't believe Disney stars should have to live up to their on-screen counterparts.
The 'We Can't Stop' singer's big break as Hannah Montana came to an end in 2011 and she has since gone on to have huge success as a solo pop artist.
Miley says she could never have lived up to people's expectations of her as Hannah but feels she didn't ever have to pretend to be someone she wasn't.
"I don't think I've ever had to exorcise Hannah because I think people knew I was different from her in real life," Miley revealed to the Daily Star this week. "Most people on Disney act as if they are really like their characters but I never felt the need to do that.
"I never pretended I was as good as what Disney writes," she explained. "They try to make someone not grow up, but you can't do that to real, normal people.
The US singer-songwriter also hinted that she is glad Hannah Montana is now behind her and she can make her own mark as a solo recording artist.
"If I'm doing something I'm going to do it right but then once I"m away from it I'll do it my way," she added.
