Miley Cyrus' 'Mothers Daughter' and 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart' videos were both snubbed by the VMAs this year.
Miley Cyrus is refusing to perform at the MTV VMAs after getting no nominations for her music videos at the 2019 ceremony.
Fans of Miley will already know that she has a long and complicated history with the VMAs. In 2013, she made headlines with her provocative performance of 'We Can't Stop' and 'Blurred Lines' with Robin Thicke. In 2014, she won video of the year for 'Wrecking Ball'. In 2015, she hosted the show and Nicki Minaj called her out for policing Nicki's tweets about racial double standards in the music industry. Essentially, whenever Miley goes to the VMAs, she makes headlines.

This year Miley won't attend because her videos for 'Mother's Daughter' and 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart' were snubbed.
Miley revealed that she will be opting out of the 2019 VMAs on Instagram. Following the nominations announcement, a Miley Cyrus fan account called @mileycyrusedtion posted a photo of Miley and her dog with the caption: "Guess I'm not watching the VMAs this year unless Miley performs."
Miley then let her fan know if they should bother tuning in to the VMAs this year by commenting on the post: "No fucking way."
Miley then explained her reasoning behind not performing underneath another fan post. A fan account called @javiercyruss shared a post about the VMAs in which they wrote: "They care more about a fucking green screen than a message to the world. Nominate anyone but at least do not use the image of Miley to promote their damn prizes."
Miley commented: "Exactly".

It's understandable why Miley feels snubbed by the VMAs. Miley received major critical acclaim for both her 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart' and 'Mother's Daughter' videos. In 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart', she made statements about gun control and religion and in 'Mother's Daughter', she made statements about abortion and sexual assault; they're important videos.
Miley isn't the only artist who won't be attending this year's ceremony either. In spite of her 10 nominations, Ariana Grande will be missing the ceremony due to her tour dates. It's currently unclear who else will be skipping the show.
What do you think? Did Miley deserve nominations?
