Miley Cyrus explains the Nicki Minaj "diss" in her wild 'Cattitude' lyrics with RuPaul

The meaning of Miley Cyrus and RuPaul's 'Cattitude' lyrics is not what you think...

Miley Cyrus has opened up about the meaning of her and RuPaul's 'Cattitude' lyrics and whether or not she is actually dissing Nicki Minaj (and Selena Gomez?) in them and praising Cardi B and (Demi Lovato?).

Miley is back. Ever since the former Disney star first graced our screens as Hannah Montana in 2006, she has entertained us time and time again. From 'Party in the USA' and 'Wrecking Ball' to 'Malibu' and 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart', she releases hit after hit after hit. Now Miley has returned. Her new EP titled She Is Coming is out now and already entertaining fans. However, the lyrics of one of the tracks are causing a bit of a stir and now Miley has explained the meaning of them.

What does 'Cattitude' mean? Are Miley Cyrus' 'Cattitude' lyrics a diss?

Miley debuted the song live in concert on May 25 and immediately fans were divided by one of the lines. In 'Cattitude', Miley sings: "I love you, Nicki, but I listen to Cardi". Miley then shared a tweet riffing on the controversial line the next day, writing: "I love you, Selena, but I listen to Demi". She also referenced "Queen Beyoncé" in a live performance of the track. Naturally, fans were confused and people immediately accused Miley of dissing Nicki and Selena.

Now Miley has addressed the backlash. Speaking to Capital FM, she said: "I think that you're allowed to enjoy two artists that fill a similar lane." She then added: "I just always grew up collaborating with Selena and Demi and there was never competition. Ariana is one of my best friends. When you are authentically yourself, no one can be you... so you're never worried about someone stealing your place because it can't be taken".

She also said that she doesn't think there's any beef between Cardi and Nicki anymore and continued: "Anytime you want to feel powerful and strong, that's my go to: Cardi and Nicki". So, in other words, it looks like the lyrics are a tongue and cheek reference to the ways in which fans pit female artists against each other. Miley even retweeted a hilarious tweet saying: "i love you hannah but i listen to mikaila".

The song doesn't actually include the Selena and Demi lyric but it does feature the Nicki and Cardi one.
