Season 5 of 'Black Mirror' is due to arrive in December 2018. Could Miley Cyrus be set to appear in an episode of the acclaimed Netflix series?

Miley Cyrus rose to stardom as a young actress on Hannah Montana but has largely spent much of her recent career focusing on music. The star is reportedly returning to her acting roots, though. South African press have reported that the star is filming for the upcoming season of Black Mirror.

According to IOL, a South African news site, Miley Cyrus could be filming for the upcoming series, which is expected to arrive in December 2018.

"Avukile Mabombo, Group Marketing Manager, Protea Hotels by Marriott, said Miley was in the city as part of the filming of Black Mirror, currently one of the world’s most popular series," the publication reports.

Cosmopolitan ZA also reports that Miley has been spotted out and about in Cape Town, South Africa.

Her potential involvement in the show is yet to be confirmed, however, Black Mirror's creator Charlie Brooker is notoriously tight lipped about the actors and themes set to feature in any given season.

Cape Town has proven to be a very popular filming location in recent years. Netflix's The Kissing Booth, for example, was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.

Even Black Mirror's beautiful San Junipero episode was filmed in Cape Town.

Black Mirror has featured stunning performances from huge names like Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard, Gugu Mbatha Raw and Domhnall Gleeson.

While the rumours are currently unconfirmed, fans don't have long to wait to find out if Miley will appear on the Netflix show. Black Mirror is expected to return in December.
