Lady Gaga sets digital sales record in the US
Lady Gaga has set a digital sales record in the US.
The singer's new album 'Born This Way' sold more than 1.1 million copies during its first week with the help of Amazon.
Gaga's second LP also shot straight to the top of the Billboard chart and became only the 17th album to sell over a million records in its first week since sales were first tracked in 1991, reports ABC News.
She also become only the fifth female artist to sell over one million albums in the US over the last 20 years.
Amazon's cut-price album download deal of just 99 cents per copy proved a big factor in helping Gaga set her digital sales record.
The offer drove sales of 'Born This Way' up to an unprecedented 662,000 in digital sales overall.
